Welcome to Pretohawk Rottweilers
|
My name is Dominie Purchase, I live in the South West of England, and I
have been involved in Rottweilers for 19 years.
My first rottie was a bitch called Tessa which was kept as a family pet.
My family was so taken up by Rottweilers that, after she passed away, we
decided to have another puppy bitch. She is called Tyra (Twinpride
Diamond Bay at Pretohawk).

After a few years with Tyra as a pet I decided to put her to stud. Tyra had already been hip scored with a result of 2:2, giving a total of 4. I felt that Tyra had many assets that would be very beneficial to her progeny; these include a good physical and healthy background along with a superb temperament, which have certainly been passed onto her offspring.
After making a few enquiries the stud dog I chose was called Murphy (Ch.Reizend Too Hot Ta Trot at Tattanhoe. J.W) who is owned by Theresa Stockman
Tyra gave birth to seven puppies in March 2003 at which time Pretohawk
Rottweilers was established.
Pretohawk is pronounced ‘pray-toe-hawk’, Preto meaning ‘black’ in Portuguese

From this litter I kept two bitches within my family, Simba, (Pretohawk Princess of Tyra), and Trixie, (Pretohawk Eternal Faith).
After several months a good friend encouraged me to go into the show ring with Trixie
and I haven't looked back since. I started by going to the Taunton & District Canine Association ringcraft classes which are run by Bob and Thelma Wine which proved to be an immense benefit to me. We have met many new friends within the
breed whilst showing who have given us lots of advice and have been very
helpful. My partner Nick and I would like to take this opportunity to
thank them all.
Trixie has been consistently placed at Championship shows including 1st in Post
Graduate Bitch at the Windsor Championship Show and at the South Wales Kennel
Association Championship Show in July 2005. At the Paignton & District Fanciers
Association Championship Show on the 13th July 2005 she was placed 3rd in Limit
Bitch and was awarded a stud book number by the Kennel Club. She is now qualified
to compete at Crufts for life. She is an absolute dream to work with and I couldn’t
have wished for a better dog to start of my “showing career”!!
After
having such a wonderful experience with my first litter I decided to
have a repeat mating.
This litter was born in March 2004 and from this I kept a dog called Memphis (Pretohawk Too Hot To Handle. J.W).
We decided to put him in the show ring, his first time out being at the
British Rottweiler Association Champ show in October 2004. He was placed
3rd in Minor Puppy dog class which qualified him for Crufts 2005.
Memphis has had many achievements since including 1st in Minor Puppy dog at the
LASER Champ show in November 2004, Best Puppy in Show at the Torquay & District
Canine Society Open show in March 2005 and 1st in Junior Dog at The Rottweiler
Club of Wales Champ Show in April 2005.
At The Three Counties Championship Show in June 2005 Memphis was placed 1st in
Junior Dog, gaining the final points he needed to be awarded a Junior Warrant and
stud book number by the Kennel Club. He is now also qualified to compete at Crufts for
life.
In October 2005 Memphis represented the South Western Rottweiler Association at the Eastern Counties Rottweiler
Club "Dog of the Year" Show where he was awarded Best Dog and Reserve best in Show by the Judge Mr. Bob Gregory.
In April 2006 Memphis was invited to compete in the Midland Rottweiler Club "Junior of the Year" where he was
awarded Best Junior dog and Reserve Best Junior in Show by the judge Mr. Peter Radley.
We are very proud of him and would like to thank all the judges who have placed him.
In March 2007 we decided to have a litter with Trixie. After
careful consideration the stud dog we chose was Teresa & Trevor Killick’s Ch.Travillon Rant and
Rave J.W. Trixie had a healthy liter of six puppies, four dogs and two bitches, from which we kept a bitch. We named
her Mercedes (Pretohawk Eternal Love). At her first championship show she was placed 3rd and
qualified for Crufts 2008.
